An unpleasant aroma in household appliances can spoil the impression of even the most delicious dish. Over time, remnants of heated food, splashes of fat and spices create a persistent aroma that is difficult to get rid of with a regular rag. However regular lemon can solve this problem faster and more effectively than many expensive cleaning products.
Why citrus
The secret lies in the chemical composition. Citric acid is a powerful natural fat breaker and odor neutralizer. When heated, it evaporates along with water, penetrating into the most inaccessible corners of the chamber. The essential oils contained in the zest work as a natural flavoring, leaving behind a feeling of cleanliness.
Preparing the steam bath
To start the procedure, you will need a deep bowl that is suitable for use in a microwave oven. Pour approximately 200–300 ml water. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice directly into the water. Do not throw away the citrus halves themselves, but put them there – in a bowl of water. The zest will enhance the effect due to its high concentration of oils.
Cleaning process
Place the container in the microwave and turn the device on maximum power. The timer should be set for 3-5 minutes. Your task is to bring the water to a boil so that the glass of the door and walls are covered with dense condensation.
The most important moment comes after the beep. Don’t open the door right away. Leave the bowl inside for another 5-10 minutes. This will allow hot steam with citric acid to soften dried fat and completely neutralize ingrained odors.
The final touch
After the allotted time, carefully remove the hot bowl. Now it is enough to wipe the walls of the chamber with a clean damp sponge or microfiber cloth. You will notice that dirt comes off effortlesslyand instead of the smell of burning or fish, only a light citrus aroma remained inside. To consolidate the result, leave the door ajar for a while to allow the camera to dry completely.
This method is absolutely safe for equipment and does not require the use of aggressive household chemicals, which can get into the food the next time it is heated. Regular use of lemon water allows you to maintain hygiene in the kitchen at minimal cost.
